Lauren and I agreed that we would keep our writing on this website happy and cheery, but when I think about what my parents have done and sacrificed for Ed and me, I get teary. They gave up their lives in Minsk and immigrated to the US, worked crazy hours at odd jobs while they learned how to speak English so they could get back to their careers, and my mom still showed up to every single wrestling match and football game despite all of this. My parents taught me to appreciate technology, cooking and creative projects. I’ve learned from them the importance of a strong work ethic, and I get from them my honesty and my drive for success. My English, however, I learned from Captain Jean Luc Picard; but everything else I got from my parents. All of these things have allowed me to become the man that I am today. This is important for many reasons, but is especially important because it allowed me to meet and fall in love with my wonderful bride to be.
